December Sweet Free Challenge and Menu Blog

I have joined the December Sweets Free Challenge by Jimmy Moore. I am doing it mainly to address my Diet Coke with Splenda habit, so for the month of December, I am stopping all the Splenda or artificial sweetener intake. Fruits like strawberries are fine, but not if they are sweetened. Where am I posting my menus? www.network-admin.net I should be posting my menu there each day and demonstrate what an Atkineer really eats. I hope this helps demonstrate the variety of the low carb diet. Finally here are two more ways to follow my progress: twitter.com www.thedailyplate.com Join me for healthy December!

Pretty good in terms of following it, but not so much in weight loss. I am still hanging around 8 pounds over goal, but January should mark the coming of less stressful times and a return to marathon training. My month has simply been a focus on more important things than necessarily dropping those few extra pounds. Now that those things are almost concluded, I am ready to refocus.

I am very happy you are seeing more success than I am.

  • livinlowcarbman:

How’s the “sweet”-free challenge going for you, Kent! I’ve lost nearly 15 pounds in December for a total of 25 pounds in two months!

  • polix8371:

Smart idea! re the sweetner. I recently became addicted to aspartame, the artifical sweetner in diet coke (951). I’m currently going through withdrawal and it is horrible. Best of luck

  • jade67231:

Doing good on the sweets challenge so far. Really want something sweet..but I just eat more protein and bam craving gone. I actually lost 8 pounds. Hang in there too ! Happy Holidays ~

  • bowulf:

I am glad for the company in the challenge, and this challenge just keeps proving that one has to remain on guard for negative behaviors creeping into one’s diet. Here’s to proving the holiday season can be a season of eating better not worse.

  • kmclemons:

thank you so much for your honesty kent. you help so many of us. as for the challenge, I’m in!

  • abnormalslc:

just to clarify…I have been Low carbing since Feb 2007…lost 82 pounds…my goal is at least 28 more….since the initial 70 pound loss the weight loss is much slower.
the Day 5 I referred to was day 5 of the sweet free challenge….I tried it before the first time Jimmy posted the challenge….and lasted only 2 weeks….its not all the frankenfoods and net carb sweets I had an issue with…I just NEEDED a Diet Coke….
I am sure you can relate…
btw…your 211 pound loss is incredible!

  • bowulf:

Yes. I have about 2 weeks left of class and when I take my National finals. Congrats that is pretty impressive honor. I’ll just be happy when half my weekend nights aren’t consumed with Fire Dept/EMT classes any longer. That level of commitment is enough to burn you out.

  • bowulf:

I used to be a 4 liter per day Diet Dew drinking, but gave it up for water when I started the diet a few years ago. Now it seems the habit is creeping back in.

  • bowulf:

Congrats on starting the diet and making the decision to eat and be healthy.

  • bowulf:

We’re getting there – right now I am just in the headache and grouchy phase of the caffeine withdrawal.

  • groovetrippin:

I read EMT class on your blog. Is that the EMT-B class? I have been an EMT-B for the past 6 years and won the honor of EMT-B of the year for my 911 service and regional area. Best of luck. Holding at 45lbs lost.

  • hiddentech:

he said ” I ELIMINATE MY NUTS ” LOL

  • abnormalslc:

12 in 3 days? I could drink the equivalent of 12 in 1 day! 1 2-liter bottle is almost equivalent to 1 6-pack….I have drunk 2+ in a single day!

  • abnormalslc:

I know how hard it is to give up the diet soda…even temporarily!
I am now water only throughout this challenge!
I despise coffee and don’t like unsweetened tea…so water it is.
I am on Day 5…I started 1 DEC.

You’ve done the hard part already….giving up the carbs.

  • aydensfolks:

yowza, no diet rite… thats an uuugly world. lol I always do the meat egg and vegie drink for 48 hours to curb my sweet cravings, but thats how I roll. =) LOL Bet you’ll feel alot better when youre off!

  • newbirth35:

I get Diet Coke at Costco (not with Splenda – $10 for 32 cans of the regular Diet) and sometimes buy the even cheaper WalMart brand of whatever they have.

Sometimes I drink seltzer water or Crystal Geyser, but it’s not the same.

  • newbirth35:

Not all areas carry it. It is only sold is certain areas. I can get it here at the grocery store, but Jimmy Moore can’t get it in his area. If you haven’t seen it then it is not sold in your area.

  • bowulf:

Yep, I personally am trying to eliminate all added artificial and natural sweeteners, which means to me strawberries and melons are still in but anything added to enhance the sweetness is out. I don’t think Jimmy is allowing the berries or melons, but we each craft our challenge accordingly. Stevia would be in the enhance sweetness for me along with xylitol, et. all natural sweeteners.

  • healthyfitmom:

oops. Just watched the Jimmy Moore video and noticed that stevia is out too. The herbs and spices add flavour and make food and drink more interesting. :)

  • healthyfitmom:

Good For you! Don’t forget that you can try out stevia. It is an acquired taste. There are herbs that can flavour food like rosehips & hibiscus, lavender, peppermint. On the box of tea the nutritional facts state that there is no significant sugars or carbs.

This is a huge step and I am rooting for ya!

  • bowulf:

I get mine at the grocery store or Wal-mart Super Center, but it’s only available in 12 pack cans. Your local coke distributer or bottler may not be making it either. This is the red headed child of the Diet Coke world.

  • underthehour2000:

Hahaha u nutta, ok good luck lets see which one of you breaks first will it be bowulf or livinlavidalowcarb :o ) gl guys bets r on :o )

  • ActionWords:

Diet Coke with Splenda? Where do I get that?

  • kim36tv:

Ohh.. I could not do without my Splenda :)

  • dondongo666:

    should have stopped at 50

LOL, “the angel came,” eh? This vid isn’t particularly convincing…people really need to realize that true change starts with the person themselves and that most of these “lose weight fast and easy” programs are complete BS! In fact, the only program I’ve ever come across that? produced real results was this: bit(dot)ly/lose_the_fat

Eat below your calorie range at first if you have top fat cardio then build the muscle then eat within your calorie range to maintain your weigh you actually don’t even have to eat health when doing like this but your not going to eat much if you don’t eat healthy half gallon drink water seven days 3 morning 2 in the afternoon and 3 in the evening and do a colon cleans to jump start your weigh loss and eat mufas things such as peanuts, olives and canola oil what Ive learned hope that helped

great way to document the weight loss.

  • pakpride007:

If you are really heavy ; i would not recommend running as that would damage your ankles, feet and joints.
Walking is the best bet to begin with followed by a sensible diet of course.
Simply include more fruits , vegetables and fibre. Another? trick is to consume plenty of clean drinking water and some vitamins.
This all will allow you to loose weight naturally and fast with no yo-yo dieting effect.
Supplement your diet with some weight loss supplements and you will loose more.

Hi there – the new record is actually 17lbs!
The diet is all about 3 conditions that
cause insatiable food cravings and 2 of the
    conditions cause bad water retention.
Losing water that shouldn’t be retained is
still good – you can be a clothes size down
in 5 days and this weight need never?
return. The avg human is 50% water so
we will always lose both water and fat – we
don’t turn into a puddle! Hope this helps

  • pakpride007:

You are amazing and such an inspiration! I plan on beginning my YouTube weight loss journey this week. Posting takes lots of guts but there is the acountability issue which is an important motivation also. xxxooo

  • teenpride:

Wonderful! I wish I could lose that much weight!

  • oliviaolas:

I would love to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks. my diet has plateaued and while I believe in healthy methods I think I need to do something slightly drastic to jar my body into getting back to losing weight.
