I need help with a custom formula in excel?

Question by Mark W: I need help with a custom formula in excel?
I would like to figure how to make a formula for figuring out the total allowable points for a diet program. Here is the information:

1. Are you
female?- score 2
Male?- score 8
A nursing mom?- score 12

2. How old are you?
17-26- score 4
27-37- score 3
38-47- score 2
48-58- score 1
over 58- score 0

3.What do you weigh?
Enter the first two digits of your weight in pounds.
(for example, if you weight 199, you will add 19 to your score)

4. How tall are you?
Under 5’1- score 0
5’1-5’10- score 1
Over 5’10- score 2

5. How do you spend most of your day?
Sitting down? score 0
Occasionally sitting? score 2
Walking most of the time? score 4
Doing physically hard work most of the time? score 6

Now add them all together and that’s your daily total.

I’m not 100% sure on the forumlae, but this will point you in the right direction. Basically you will need to work with an IF statement for the majority of these.

Heres an example for your #1

B4 etc are just examples of the columns you may be using..

=IF(B4=Female,2) might need to do this > “2″

, , , – these commers represent IF THEN ELSE in that order, IF this THEN show this otherwise display ELSE.

By the looks of things you may need a compound if statment which is joining two questions into one forumular, for example..

=IF(AND( *then type your forumla, we put the AND before the two questions, because thats just how excel works lol*.

P.S. Remember for every Open Bracet, you need a Closed Bracett ( ( ))

I am on Optifast, a slimming program where you have these sachets of powder that you make into a shake when you mix with water, it has protein and nutrients and so on in it, but the program goes for 3 months and I need to travel internationally. Is this the sort of thing customs takes off people?

As long as it’s processed food in original packets, and it doesn’t look like you’re bringing huge quantity for resale, it’s okay.

So, I’m 17 yrs old, weigh 160 pounds and about 5’9. I have trouble getting in the mood for excersising and I’m thinking of trying to get in a routine to lose the belly fat I have. I’ve routed around the Yahoo! neighbourhood andsaw that crunches and sit ups work but is there anything else I can do?

I eat (what I might think is…) a fairly healthy diet, breakfast, snack, sandwich or salad for lunch, maybe a snack, and 2 servings of vegitables and a meat serving. The snacks (not everything I mention at one serving!) would be some cereal (about a 1/2 cup or less), or a square of Ghirardelli dark chocolate or sometimes a handfull of honey roasted peanuts . I snack because I hear that small snacking throughout the day helps with metabolism.

Any suggestions are helpful. Thank you!

You’re going to have to do a combination of things in order to achieve optimum results in toning your stomach. You should eat many small portions of healthy food throughout the day. Get 8-10 hours of sleep every night. Drink water frequently. And most importantly, exercise. You’ll need to combine cardio and strength exercises. Try running, biking, and swimming for cardio exercise. Try various types of ab exercises as well; you can find examples online. Make sure to constantly switch up your workout routine to really challenge your body:)
